Our Physicians

Dr. Kambiz Ghafourian, MD, MPH, is a distinguished cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation. He earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2003 and completed his residency and fellowship at MedStar Health/Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Ghafourian further honed his expertise with a fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2015.

In 2024 Dr. Ghafourian returned to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a notable tenure at Northwestern University, where he served as an Assistant Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine and was affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital. His clinical focus includes cardiac amyloid, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, heart transplantation, and ventricular assist devices.

Dr. Ghafourian’s research interests focus on advancing treatments for heart failure and cardiomyopathy, exploring innovative approaches to heart transplantation, and improving the efficacy of ventricular assist devices. His work aims to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to the broader field of cardiovascular medicine.

Dr. Ghafourian is board-certified in Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is fluent in Farsi and is known for his compassionate patient care and dedication to advancing heart failure.
