Achilles Aiken, M.D. is a cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is dedicated to the comprehensive care of patients with complex cardiovascular disease, with clinical interests spanning preventive cardiology, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation.

Dr. Aiken graduated with honors from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology before earning his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed his internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and received multiple clinical and teaching honors. These included the Leo R. Rigler, M.D. Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement as both an intern and senior resident, as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine Excellence in Teaching with Humanism Award.

He subsequently completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Cedars-Sinai, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow and received the Elliot Corday, M.D. Outstanding Fellow of the Year Award. He then completed a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Aiken is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Aiken’s academic and research interests focus on pulmonary hypertension, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, and transplant immunology. His work has been presented at leading national and international scientific meetings, including the American Transplant Congress, World Transplant Congress, European Society for Organ Transplantation Congress, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, Heart Failure Society of America, and American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions.

His contributions to cardiovascular and transplant research have been recognized with several honors, including the American Society of Transplantation Young Innovator Award, an American Transplant Congress Travel Grant, and the Cedars-Sinai Clinical Fellows Award for Excellence in Research. Through his clinical practice, research, and teaching, Dr. Aiken is committed to advancing the care and improving the outcomes of patients with advanced cardiovascular disease.
